Digital Image preparation procedure.

AFRD image group provides the highest standards of service to our

Valued customers. Please read carefully to avoid any mistakes.

 

Images must be ready to print and sized to the final output size. Any manipulation, color correction, re-sizing, or contour cut preparation may incur additional charge of $60 per hour.

 

We can accept the following file formats: .TIF, .TIFF, .EPS, .AI, .PSD, .JPG, .PNG, .PDF, .FS in either CYMK or RGB color space.

All files with text MUST have the text converted to outlines prior to saving. Files should be flattened and should not include masks or transparencies.

Vector images should be sized to the final output size and saved as an EPS file. Any whitespace left in an EPS file will be considered border and included in the square foot charges. Please prepare files accordingly.

For print and cut services, the file should be prepared with a bleed outside the cut line to prevent any white space around the edge of the cut. For large digital print do not include any bleed. For printing on Canon digital press images should be 300dpi CMYK.

 

Raster (bitmap) images for large format printing should be at least 100 DPI, but no more than 200 DPI at FINAL OUTPUT SIZE. Image quality will suffer for images less than 100 DPI, and images will not improve over 200 DPI. These should be saves as a TIF or JPG file. Print and Cut files should be saved as an EPS format. For small digital print runs such as business cards, menus, ect….. resolution should be 300dpi.

 

To facilitate continuity, please accompany your electronic file with a hard copy or electronic proof. If we do not receive a hard copy of your order, we will not be responsible for missing or omitted objects and/or color discrepancies when we open your digital file.

While we take every measure to give you the finest color output, not all monitors, printers, scanners, etc are calibrated the same. Please do not expect the colors to match from your monitor to our monitor, much less from your monitor to our printer. Also, the 4 or 6 color eco-solvent printing process prohibits the possibility of printing some colors at the limits of the color gamut. We can provide color matching services for vector images at $40 per color. A color sample or pantone reference must be provided. Most colors can be kept very close to your specifications. Sample prints are $40 per print. Size is roughly 2’ x 3’ (24” x 36”)

If contour cut lines are not provided with the electronic file that is to be print and cut, a minimum setup fee of at least $40 will be added to create the contour line. This fee could be more depending on the complexity of the image. You will be notified prior to any work proceeding.

 

Contour lines need to be created with the outline or stroke with a very specific color name - “CutContour”. This will allow our RIP to read this outline and know that it is to be cut and not printed.
